British literature is literature written by a British person. It is written mostly in English, with some things written in Gaelic.

Most "British" literature I've seen is from before the 1900's since people weren't to envolved in each other back then. Here is an example of British literature: Beowulf! What I consider British literature is Anglo-Saxon, Jutes, Danes, and Celts writings.

Go to library.com.edu – that site has a lot of information on British Literature. Also go to askJeeves.com.
While you are at it, check out the "Jeeves" books… The Inimitable Jeeves, My Man Jeeves, Carry on Jeeves… there are many more. They are classic Brit Lit.
Some British authors are: CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien. Excellent books.
